Program Note:

One of the challenges of writing for woodwind quintet is that, unlike string quartets, the instruments are not homogenous, but instead offer a diverse sound world. Quintet for Woodwinds explores these differences in timbre and strives for angularity to bring out these divergences. The work is technically demanding and requires a lot of focus and energy from the performers. I am especially grateful to the members of the Coreopsis Quintet, who have championed this work and made it their own.
